Cheryl Morrien was seven years old when she vanished in the
Netherlands on August 5th 1986. Robert Black is believed to be
connected to her case; she was the right age, vanished at the right time of
year (Black liked taking girls during the holidays) and Black was known to
visit Amsterdam.
So, let’s see.
The first rune is Gebo, merkstave. Greed, loneliness,
dependence, toll, privation. The greed could be described as Black (or whoever
took Cheryl) wanting to control a victim. Maybe a physical toll on the road?
The second rune is Thurisaz. Reactive force, directed force
of destruction and defence, conflict.
Eroticism, a tendency to change. Male sexuality. This could indicate
that she was taken for a sexual reason.
Black was a violent person; during Jennifer Cardy’s murder, her watch was broken, Sarah Harper was thrown into a river while she was still alive, the girl he abducted in 1990 was shoved under the dashboard, as well as stuffed in a sleeping bag. The male sexuality goes with greed, indicating a violent predator.

The third rune is Perthro. A secret matter, a mystery,
hidden things. Close to femininity, including the vagina. This, combined with
the other two runes, does not look good for Cheryl. Black’s victims were
‘hidden’ in his van and possibly his house.
If he DID abduct Cheryl, then her circumstances would be similar to the girl he took in 1990. It is likely that Cheryl was hidden under the dashboard, or stuffed in a container, while Black drove around looking for somewhere private, bringing us back to privation.

The fourth rune is Sowilo, merkstave. Bad counsel, false
success, loss of goals, destruction, retribution, justice. This does seem to
confuse me. Maybe her abductor had something ‘wrong’ with her, maybe she didn’t
‘satisfy’ him. This confuses me. But there is hope, as ‘justice’ is shown, so
maybe her body will be found and her abductor punished.
The fifth rune is Uruz, merkstave. Weakness, obsession,
domination by others, sickness, ignorance. Lust, brutality, violence. All
hallmarks of a Black abduction. The weakness and obsession could be Black’s
desire to have a victim and control them. The sickness could be his desire as
well, whereas ignorance could be ignoring how she felt.
This sort of thing disgusts and frightens me. How a child
must have felt, no matter how well-tuned with ‘stranger danger’, when a van
suddenly blocks their path and they’re dragged in, then suffering things they
don’t understand. It revolts me and is part of the reason why I try and do
these runes so I can help victims.
The sixth rune is Fehu, merkstave. A failure. The loss of
something. Cowardice, poverty, slavery, bondage. I think by now that Cheryl has
left us. I think she feels as if she has failed to survive Black; she probably
still feels as if she has failed. I feel for this poor child, having to be
treated like that.
The seventh rune is Hagalaz, merkstave. Catastrophe. Loss of
power. Pain, suffering, loss, sickness, crisis. Again, I think this is how
Cheryl feels and perhaps still feels.
The eighth rune is Jera. Hope of peace. Life cycle, the
cycle of the universe. I think this one is showing that Cheryl will get some
peace eventually, that her abductor will be brought to justice.
Knowing about Black and psychopaths like him make me sick to
the stomach, especially that before the 1990s, these pedophiles got away with
their crimes, without AMBER Alert, without the sex offender registers being
public, without technology to track the children.
The ninth rune is Isa, merkstave. Egomania, dullness,
blindness, treachery, illusion, betrayal, plots. These could all be what Black
used, to get away with these. The betrayal could be of what I mentioned above,
the fact that the law – in the Netherlands and beyond – failed their children
in cases like Black’s.
Now, for where she is.
Wealth, maybe a rich place or a bank? Sea. Iron. Dockyards?
Moors. Cliff. Furnish. Broken. Grain. Heaven. Water. Ice. River. Bridge.
Harvest, maybe farm? Sun. Earth.
