Tarot Spread: The Princes in the Tower

This reading shall be a little different than normal. Not only am I looking into a mystery that is over five hundred years old, but I shall look at astrology using www.theplanetstoday.com.

The Princes in the Tower is one of the England's most fascinating mysteries. It could also be considered England's oldest missing persons case. Ever since I was a small child I have adored history. As I have also been annoyed at mysteries I cannot solve, I spent hours pouring over my theories regarding the two boys.

Writing a full summary of the two Princes would take far too long, so I have to assume that you already know their history. If not, I recommend these websites.

1.       Page of Pentacles, reversed. Prodigality, liberality, luxury, unfavorable news, closing yourself off from others.

Could the unfavorable news that is mentioned be that knowledge that the boys were illegitimate? By medieval standards at any rate; King Edward IV had been engaged to somebody else by the time that he married Elizabeth Woodville, the boys’ mother. Engagement was considered just as important as marriage in those days.

Pages also refer to children and the two princes would have been considered to be children both then and now. The Page of Pentacles also covers the period between March 21st and June 20th. King Edward IV died on April 9th 1483, Prince Edward arrived at the Tower on May 19th and was joined by Prince Richard on June 16th. Not only are these important dates in the timeline, but they are the three events (prior to the boys being declared illegitimate) that definitely happened.

2.       Ace of Cups, reversed.  House of the false heart, instability, revolution, loss of love, feeling unhappy, feeling unloved.

The revolution mentioned here might have been a fear of revolution against Richard III. I am certain that the boys would not have wished to take part in any way. They were just children, after all. Any ‘caretakers’ that might have been responsible for them while they were in the Tower might have lied to them or even plotted against them.

The Ace of Cups covers the period between September 23rd and December 20th. There was an initial uprising in September 1483, although I am not sure of the exact date. Most people who believe that the princes were murdered suggest September or November 1483. But remember, the Tarot picks up on anything that surrounds the Querent – the Princes – and this includes rumors.

3.       Eight of Cups, reversed. Questioning your decision not to leave, not being able to move on, fear of the unknown. Travelers, night shift workers, solitary workers, maintenance workers.

Keep in mind that ‘night shift workers’ and ‘maintenance workers’ would not have been referred to as such in the fifteenth century. The card shows something walking away from the Cups that are depicted. Perhaps the boys wished to leave the Tower. There would have been advantages to this; if the boys’ enemies did not know where they were then they would be safe, even if it meant rumors of their deaths.

Guards who worked during the night might have been involved somehow. It makes the most sense to smuggle the boys out at night, whether this was on the orders of Elizabeth Woodville or someone else. Something of note is that Elizabeth Woodville had her daughters sent into Richard III’s care in spring 1484, which would have kept them safe, especially since her eldest daughter would marry Henry Tudor if he took the throne (which she did). Why would she do this if she believed that her sons were dead? True, females had a slightly weaker claim to the throne than their male relatives, but they would still have been seen as threats to Richard III if they opposed him.

The most likely answer is that she knew what had happened to her sons.

4.       The Emperor. Stability, power, protection, aid, reason, authority, responsibility.

It seems as if the boys – or whoever was looking after them – had to work with power, either for or against them. SOMEONE wished to protect the boys.

The Emperor can be seen as fathers, senior politicians, heads of family or heads of state. Richard III would have fit three of these four categories. Some people believe that King Richard had the boys – or at the very least Prince Richard, as his older brother had been ill when he was housed at the Tower – hidden away, due to the fact that they might have been illegitimate but considered a threat nonetheless and planned to announce their survival once he had defeated Henry Tudor.

Of course, this did not happen, but if Henry Tudor had known that the two children were alive then he would have targeted them. This is something we tend to forget due to Tudor propaganda.

If King Richard HAD ordered the boys’ deaths then I believe that this card would have been reversed. But as this is not the case – and I believed anyway that he had no reason to wish them dead if they had been declared illegitimate – I swing towards this theory.

5.       Three of Pentacles. Work, a new job or career, trade, skilled labor, gifts, legacy, inheritance. Architects, builders, bricklayers and stonemasons, master craftsmen, carpenters.

The message of this card is that to reach success then you must take action.

Someone managed to get the boys out of the Tower. The passage could have been paid for – or helped by – a merchant or a laborer. The card shows a stone building, which reminds me somewhat of a church or perhaps even the Tower itself. Could someone from the church have offered to hide the boys? Before Henry VIII and the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the Catholic Church had a lot of power and was considered second only to the king. If word had somehow got out that the boys were being hidden by the church then if someone tried to kill them, they would at best have been seen as a fool, or at worst a menace that had to be punished by execution in public.

Being in the church also makes sense if you know anything about Welsh history. In 1282 AD Princess Gwenllian of Wales was just an infant when her father, the last king of Wales, was defeated in battle by Edward I of England. She was placed in a nunnery in Lincolnshire – as were her female cousins – so that she would never marry and therefore would no longer be a threat. Perhaps something similar happened with the Princes in the Tower.

(Something I would like to mention is that although I am now a Wiccan, I was brought up a Catholic. Attitudes have changed in the 500 years since, but I still respect the religion of my ancestors and if I see any horrid comments, I will not tolerate them.)

This card also covers any time that Mars is in Capricorn. I had to do some research, but I think that the next time that Mars was in Capricorn was between 6th February and 17th March 1484. It might be possible that someone managed to get the boys to safety during this time.

6.       King of Swords. Something rises from judgement. Power, command, low, offices of the crown, authority, intellectual but enigmatic, trustworthy and reliable.

The princes had some power and command when they were last known to be alive, in the summer of 1483. The fact that this card is of a king suggests that these two children gained power somehow. Could this possibly be in the church, under false names? Or even abroad?

This card covers any time that Venus is in Cancer. Venus was in Cancer between 19th May and 12th June 1484. The sixth card covers the future, so we need to keep that in mind.

7.       Two of Cups, reversed. Separation, the end of a relationship, arguments, distrust, business deals gone awry.

The seventh card represents the Querent, so I believe that this might have been a reminder that the boys did not trust anyone. This card can also signify friendships and caregivers. Were they afraid of the people who were looking after them? If so, were they right? Something of interest is that this card covers the period between June 21st and July 1st, during which point they would have been declared illegitimate. The arguments mentioned might have been whether the boys were legitimate, or whether they still posed a threat.

8.       Eight of Swords. Fear of failure, bad luck, being held back, unforeseen obstructions, being outmaneuvered, being outplayed.

This card represents the environment around the Querent, or in this case Querents. I am not sure if this is what definitely happened to the brothers – the Tarot can never provide definite answers – although I personally believe that this could represent their worries, or even the worries of those looking after them.

Something else that I think is interesting is that this card also covers anytime that Jupiter is in Gemini. Jupiter entered Gemini was on 1st May 1491; eight years after the boys were last seen. Could it be possible that the brothers managed to outlive King Richard? The King of Swords also rules the Eight of Swords, so their environment links to what they wanted to work towards.

9.       Four of Wands, reversed. Obstacles causing delay, disruptions, problems at home, mishaps and small accidents.

The ninth card links with the Querents’ hopes and fears. The problems at home could be a reference to the brothers’ living situation. The disruptions might have been that their whereabouts had to stay secret due to the constant fighting. The card shows two young people underneath a banner outside of castle walls, so I truly believe that they somehow managed to get out of the Tower, although whether before or after Richard III died in battle I am not sure.

This card also covers any time that Venus is in Aries. Venus was in Aries between 8th March and 31st March 1484. Maybe they left the Tower during this period?

10.   King of Pentacles, reversed. An old and vicious man, an exploiter or harsh employer, weakness, perversion, corruption, opinionated, cruel, wasteful, greed.

The last card indicates the overall outcome and is the most important card of the reading. If this card had represented King Richard then I believe that it would have been listed as the obstacle (the second card in the reading). In addition, as King Richard died when he was 32 years old, the ‘old and vicious man’ could mean Henry Tudor, who died in 1509 aged 52, which would have been considered old by the standards of the day.

This card covers the period between 12th August and 11th September, which includes the date of the Battle of Bosworth Field (22nd August 1485 AD). King Henry was certainly a greedy man, as he hoarded vast amounts of money (his son Henry VIII would go on to waste all of this attempting to conquer France and Scotland). When Henry Tudor became king, he asked a fortune-teller where they would spend Christmas. When the fortune-teller replied that they would be at home, Henry Tudor called them a fraud and said that they would spend Christmas in prison as he would have them locked up. Henry Tudor was not a very nice man, despite all of the Tudor propaganda.

I think back to the eighth card, with Jupiter in Gemini. If the brothers’ ‘atmosphere’ came to an end sometime after the beginning of May 1491, then it must be sometime after this that Henry VII learnt that they were alive. Whether or not they would have been abroad or in the church, they still remained a threat. Jupiter began to enter Cancer on 15th May 1492 and Venus entered Cancer four days later – remember, ‘something rises from judgement’.

If Henry VII learned that the brothers were still alive during this time period then it would have spelt danger for them. Either way, something important happened to the brothers if they were still alive in 1491.

Nevertheless, considering the treacherous world that the Princes lived in, surviving for at least eight years after everyone said they had died is quite impressive. Or perhaps it was even later. If the King of Pentacles refers to an old man (Henry VII turned fifty in January 1507) and the hopes and fears of the boys is connected to a time when Venus is in Aries, the boys could have been alive as early as 5th May 1507 (at which point they would have been 37 and 34).

Operation Anagram: Jackie Ansell-Lamb

Jackie Ansell-Lamb

Jackie Ansell-Lamb was killed on 8th March 1970 or just after.

Jackie was eighteen years old when she was killed whilst hitchhiking north from London.

Her body was found on 14th March 1970 by a farmer, in Square Wood, Mere, near Knutsford. After investigating, police found that a witness remembered a girl fitting her description getting into a car at Keele service station between four and five. She had worn a blonde wig, false eyelashes, a dark blue maxi coat and maroon patent boots.

Over the weekend that she vanished, 40,000 people went to Manchester’s European football match. A lot of people had travelled on the M6.

In 1990, DNA from the case matched up with the Barbara Mayo case. Barbara was killed six months later; she had been hitchhiking north too.

Peter Tobin is considered a suspect.

As this was my first case for a victim known to have died, I asked what happened on her last day.

The first rune is Thurisaz, merstave.

Danger, defencelessness, betrayal, hatred, torment, lies. Rape.

This could be either her situation or the situation of hitchhikers themselves, especially the female ones. But I’d say that she let her guard down and she was ‘betrayed’ by her killer using her trust.

The second rune is Sowilo, merkstave. False goals, bad counsel, false success, loss of goals,
destruction, justice. Wrath of God.

This is interesting.

Could the ‘goals’ mean Manchester? Her aim of getting there, obviously, but maybe the match? What was the score? Can any of you remember? Did a parent, grandparent, a friend, go to that match?
If you do, that could really help.

The justice could mean that this case will be solved. Jackie – and Barbara – will get justice.

The wrath of God could mean the killer getting a just punishment, but I am also reminded of the St Christopher medals in Tobin’s possession. St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers. It would make sense if a hitchhiker had one.

Could it belong to Jackie?

I want to do readings on the jewellery, but never really got round to it. In fact, I apologize for the length of time between readings. I have had a busy – and mentally stressful – life.

The third rune is Ehwaz, merkstave.

A change is craved, feeling restless or confined in a situation. Mistrust, betrayal.

The restlessness and confined in a situation makes me think. Could the restless be Jackie asking her kidnapper where they were going? Was she thinking they were going the wrong way? Was she annoyed that they weren’t getting anywhere? She could be irritated that they weren’t near where she wanted. Was she now anxious?

Or even, could she have been tied up by now? Tobin tied his victims with their bras. However, the Bible John victims weren’t found like that, so maybe he hadn’t started it yet.

The fourth rune is Kenaz, merkstave. Disease, instability, lack of creativity. Nakedness, exposure, false hope.

I assumed they are in a lay-by or somewhere private. Woodland? A car park? I’d say she had her clothes taken off. Was she found naked?

False hope may mean her thinking, was this man going the right way? She could have been telling herself she hadn’t made a mistake.

The fifth rune is Mannaz, merkstave.

Self-delusion, depression, cunning, slyness, manipulation, craftiness. Expect no help.

This could describe Tobin. He acted like a gentleman, but was nasty and violent. Somehow, he reminds me of Claude Duval, the highwayman who danced with a woman during a robbery.

The sixth rune is the blank rune, which could mean this is in the hands of the universe.

The seventh rune is Ingwaz, merkstave. Impotence, movement without change, production, toil, work.

Maybe she’s trying to get out. She knows what she’s in now.

The eighth rune is Raido, merkstave.

Crisis, rigidity, injustice, irrationality, disruption, possibly death. I’d say that she’s dead now and she may realise. Maybe she floats above as she wonders where she’s going – both on the road and perhaps, going to another plane.

The last rune is Jera.

A time of peacefulness and happiness. A promise of success earned. Life cycle, everything changes in time.

This one makes me feel sad and pleased. She finally realises what’s happened to her. Was there anyone waiting for her? Her life cycle is over, possibly all of her lives on Earth.

This poor girl has now had her life ended, in a most disgusting way, but the thing is, she’s at peace now.

If there’s anyone you want me to do a reading now, please write in the comments below.

Operation Anagram - Jill Barnard

Jill Barnard

Jill Barnard Runic Reading

Aside from a small mention in a Daily Mail article, a description of her on the above-mentioned site and the fact she may be Scottish, I know almost nothing about nineteen-year-old Jill.

She was 19 when she vanished sometime in October 1977, from London. She had been due to go flat-hunting with her sister, but never turned up. Jill was five foot four, brown hair, medium build.

Because of her physical description and the time she vanished, I suspect Peter Tobin may have murdered her. We do not know Tobin’s whereabouts at that time, but I believe at the time of another victim’s murder (coincidentally, she was also named Jill; Jill Brown, 1978) he may have lived in Essex. This disappearance was in January 1978 – only two months after Ms Barnard was seen.

The first rune is Thursiaz. Reactive force, directed force of destruction, conflict. Eroticism, a need for change. Male sexuality.

Maybe this is going straight to her attacker? Maybe she was simply dragged in? Doesn’t sound like Tobin. Maybe she realised something was wrong and she tried fighting back?

The second rune is Hagalaz, merkstave. Natural disaster, catastrophe, loss of power, stagnation. Pain, loss, suffering. Sickness, crisis. So, she’s already with whoever took her. Or maybe she was going through a hard time in her life?

This is a very difficult reading since I have been unable to find almost anything about her, expect she is a suspected Tobin victim. Even her photograph on the Daily Mail wasn’t very clear. So this is why I need to put this out there – if someone who knew Jill comes across this, maybe the puzzle will be solved?

The third rune is Nauthiz, reversed. No freedom, distress, hard work, negligence.  Necessity, deprivation, poverty, emotional hunger. Maybe this could mean Jill and her abductor?

The ‘necessity’ could be the desire for sex. Tobin would have divorced the previous year from Sylvia Jeffries – I am unsure of the date – and he may have killed Brenda Evans in Cheshire on 7th October that year.

This is why I need the date of Jill’s disappearance. If he ran away to Cheshire shortly after killing Jill, he could have come across Brenda. Knowing when people vanish is VERY IMPORTANT, not just for psychics, but the police.

The fourth rune is Tiwaz. Honor, justice, leadership, authority. Victory and success in legal matters. Could this mean that she will face justice? It’s almost forty years, but this could possibly be solved.
After all, Jennifer Cardy’s murder was solved after 30 years; Tammy Alexander has been identified after 35. It’s possible.

The fifth rune is Ingwaz, merkstave. Movement without change, production, labor, work. Could this mean either an attempt to escape, or perhaps even anyone trying to look for her?

Work, perhaps digging a grave?

The sixth rune is Kenaz, reversed. Disease, instability, nakedness, exposure, loss of illusion, false hope. Perhaps Jill knows her time has come. Maybe she lay by the grave as he dug it?

It’s a terrifying, horror-movie thought, but it is possible to be near your grave while it’s being dug.
I think she must have known no-one would help her now. I can’t imagine how terrible she must have felt, probably her life flashing before her before she was even killed.

The seventh rune is Raido, merkstave. Crisis, rigidity, irrationality, disruption, dislocation, death. She has gone now. The rigidity could be drink or drugs, fear, mortification?  The dislocation reminds me of Dinah being bent double when she was buried.

Was her killer perhaps disrupted while her grave was being dug? Tobin was spotted as he dug Dinah’s grave by a neighbour. He lied and said he was digging a sandpit for his son. Could perhaps a similar event have happened?

Maybe even, as I said the January 1978 murder was not long after, perhaps both girls are buried in the same place!

The eighth rune is Berkano, merkstave. Family problems and domestic issues. Anxiety about someone close. Loss of control, blurring of consciousness, deceit, stagnation.

I feel she is thinking, rightfully, about loved ones, before the blurring of consciousness caused by her following the light. The domestic issues could point to the fact that she was looking for a new place?

All in all, I feel that this poor young woman was abducted and likely killed not long after. But there could be justice and she might be found.

Now, for where she is.

Sharp. Thorn. Horse. Journey (train station?) riding. Car or van rental? Disease. Hospital. Flame, burn. Hail. Cold. Serpent. Vault. Bank? Heart, salvation (Heart Foundation or Salvation Army?). star. Prince. Night. Birch. Crown? Sea.

Genette Tate

Genette Tate

Genette Tate was thirteen years old when she vanished on 19th August 1978, in Aylesbeare, Devon, UK. She was last seen by two friends when she talked to them, before getting on her bicycle to deliver papers.

Her friends heard the bicycle clatter over. When they came over, Genette had gone and the bicycle was turned over, the newspapers scattered.

Genette has never been found, despite a search. At five foot, she would have looked much younger than thirteen from behind. In 1994, Robert Black was named as a likely suspect. Since then, he has been named by most sources as the murderer. In 2014, prosecutors looked at bringing charges against him.

As mentioned in my readings about Ramona Herling and Suzanne Lawrence, Black targeted young girls. He gave away information about Genette’s area, had been in nearby Exeter the day she vanished, he targeted girls on bicycles and in rural areas.

Unlike April Fabb and Suzanne Lawrence, who were later suggested to be victims of Peter Tobin, Black has always been the prime suspect, despite Peter Tobin and I think once Fred West, being suggested.

The first rune is ‘Ehwaz’, reversed. A change is craved, feeling restless or confined. Reckless haste, mistrust, betrayal. If I am right with whom I believe Black took, Genette would have been the first on a bicycle. Maybe that was the change. The reckless haste could be her bicycle being turned over when struck from behind, which almost certainly happened.

The second rune is ‘Jera’, merkstave. Sudden setbacks, a major change, bad timing, conflict. Of course, the setback would be Genette’s surprise, the bad timing was simply being out when Black was driving through her village. The conflict could be an attempted escape or Genette struggling.

The third rune is ‘Eihwaz’. strength, reliability, providing motivation and a sense of purpose. Sights are set on a reasonable target and goals can be achieved. Black had probably been longing for a victim for some time. If I am right, his last victim would have been in Ireland in March 1977, almost eighteen months prior. The novelty would have worn off. I also read that a year later, he tried another abduction in the same area.

Maybe he had been on earlier trips, looking round for a young victim. The idea of ‘setting eyes on a reasonable target’ may be sighting her as he drove round a corner and thought that she was his ideal victim. While this abduction was not planned, it was done by somebody who wanted to abuse a child.

The fourth rune is ‘Sowilo’, merkstave. False goals, bad counsel, false success, loss of goals. Destruction, justice, casting down of vanity. Vanity is something that psychopaths like Black have. The worst psychopaths only think of themselves and refuse to say what crimes they have done. But this rune could mean that there will be justice for Genette’s loved ones.

The false goal could maybe be a traffic incident or something that forced Black to change his route slightly. The false success? Maybe he worked out that Genette was not as young as she seemed, either by when she was still alive or by local papers he almost certainly picked up if he drove through there soon after.

The fifth rune is ‘Gebo’, merkstave. Greed, loneliness, obligation, privacy, bribery. The greed and loneliness may translate to the pedophile’s determination for abducting a victim. The privacy? That’s obvious.

The sixth rune is ‘Uruz’. Physical speed and untamed potential. Freedom, action, energy, strength, sudden or unexpected changes. Sexual desire, masculine potency. All of these describe Black. I think at this point, after probably coming across a traffic problem, he’d stopped, then attacked Genette.
It revolts me how someone could do this.

The seventh rune is ‘Ingwaz’, merkstave. Impotence, movement without change. Production and work. An attempt to escape? That would be an automatic reflex. Or perhaps she was dying?

The eighth rune is ‘Berkano’, merkstave. Family problems or domestic trouble. Anxiety about someone close. Carelessness, loss of control. Blurring of consciousness, deceit. Genette’s father is accused of abusing her.

What a tragic and ironic life Genette had. Abused by her father, allegedly, then murdered by a complete, psychopathic stranger. I am DEFINITELY not saying there is any karma in this, but I think that cases like this are to teach people that some things relating to abuse CANNOT be ignored.

The ninth rune is the blank rune, which is not historical, but can be seen as this is in the hands of the universe.

Now, to see where she could be.

Operation Anagram: Jill Brown

Operation Anagram: Jill Brown

Runic Reading: Jill Brown

Jill Brown, 19, vanished on 3rd January 1978, from Dovercourt, Essex. She left her home to go and work at the local launderette, but she never arrived. She didn’t take anything with her to show she was leaving home, but she also suffered from a rare illness. She was five foot two, with brown hair. All of these make me think she may be a victim of Peter Tobin.

So, let me see the runes.

The first rune is ‘Isa’. Standstill, to wait, a challenge or frustration. Sadly, I take this rune to mean she may be dead. Considering she had an illness and needed medication, this is not unlikely, but the fact that I think she could be a Tobin victim also stands out.

The second rune is the blank rune. I will ignore this one, since there is no evidence that these were used historically.

The third rune is ‘Mannaz’. The individual. Your attitude towards others and them towards you. Intelligence, create, skill, ability. Awareness. I am not certain if this points towards Jill or Tobin, if he is involved. But the ‘skill’ and ‘awareness’ could be Tobin’s charm of tricking his victims into stopping and listening before he attacks.

The fourth rune is ‘Othala’. Inherited possessions, perhaps a house or home. What is important to a person, perhaps significant value? Land of birth, spiritual heritage. Experience, fundamental values, source of safety, increase and abundance. The problem is, this is a positive rune, but the idea of a house or home makes me think maybe she never left her home, maybe he attacked there?

We don’t know where Tobin was in 1977 and 1978, so maybe he lived in Dovercourt. He could have gone to her home, or invited her to his. Maybe the ‘experience’ means his experience in killing?

The fifth rune is ‘Gebo’ merkstave. Greed, loneliness, obligation, toll, privation, bribery. The ‘greed’ could be Tobin wanting a victim. Maybe he offered her help with something or relating to a job? Could that be the obligation? The privation could be that she lacked items. As she worked in a launderette, I think she may not have had much. Perhaps tobin offered her some things to help her and lured her?

The sixth rune is ‘Dagaz’, merkstave. A completion, ending, limit, blindness, hopelessness. I am now certain that she was killed. If this is combined with the other runes, Isa makes sense and she might have been killed in a home.

The seventh rune is ‘Fehu, merkstave. Loss of personal property, cowardice, slavery, bondage, it implies failure. Failure maybe because Jill trusted the wrong person? Loss of life? The bondage could be that Tobin bound her before attacking her, maybe she is still bound, as Dinah was found.

The eighth rune is ‘Wunjo’, merkstave. Sorrow, trife, alienation, intoxication, possession by higher forces, raging frenzy. The intoxication makes me think of how he drugged Vicky and Dinah, as well as making the two girls he attacked in 1993 drunk. He could have offered Jill a sedated drink or alcohol. Then he would get on with attacking.

The ninth rune is ‘Algiz’, merkstave. Hidden danger, consumption by divine forces, loss of divine link, turning away, warning. Maybe Jill knew she shouldn’t have gone to Tobin’s house, or go by herself? It could be that, like I said with Pamela, she had a warning from angels, but ignored it.

All in all, I can safely say that it is likely this wasn’t a snatch-off-the-street abduction; this was what Tobin did with Angelika, what he would have done with Cheryl in 2005. Lure his victim, after befriending them, into being somewhere alone with him, where he would rape and kill them.

As I have no idea where Tobin was in 1977 and 1978, I can say that I believe he lived in or near Dovercourt at the beginning of 1978. Due to his travelling around, he most likely left Dovercourt a few weeks or months after killing Jill, maybe taking her body with him. As Margaret Frame is likely the next victim (died October 1978), he may have moved to Brighton next.

Now, for where Jill is.

Wealth, forest, sight. Lord? A church, maybe? It would fit with Tobin’s modus operandi. Credit. Honour. Furnish. Broken? Maybe somewhere where things are mended?
Pain. Shelter. River. Frost? Bridge? Elk, yew. Hawk. House, estate.

Operation Anagram: Suzanne Lawrence

Operation Anagram: Suzanne Lawrence

The case of Suzanne Lawrence is a memorable, infamous and confusing one.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/police-probe-unsolved-murders-for-tobin-link-2024780.html
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases-int/2462dfuk.html

On one hand, between 1994 and 2007, it was assumed that, with no evidence, Suzanne Lawrence was the victim of child-killer Robert Black. Black had killed three girls in the 1980s and in 2011, was convicted of killing a fourth. While I will put up suspected victims' readings on here, including Christine Markham, Mary Boyle and Cheryl Morrien, as well as ones I personally think are his, I have always considered Suzanne to be a Tobin victim.

Tobin became a suspect about 2007, to which I think there is certainly evidence for. She disappeared during the summer and Tobin was known to holiday in Norfolk. The exact date of her disappearance I have failed to find, but she resided in Harold Hill, Essex, which is on the way to Norfolk; using a small detour on Google Maps from the quickest route, it goes right through Harold Hill. She has similar facial features to Dinah McNicol, as well as suspected Tobin victims, including Barbara Mayo, Susan Long and Pamela Exall.

Right, let me do this.

Some time before I did Suzanne Lawrence, I received the ‘Isa’ rune and the ‘Berkano’ rune. Unfortunately, since ‘Isa’ means nothing has grown, this means she is dead. The ‘Berkano’ rune means, as the rune was reversed, abandon, loss of control, blurring of consciousness, deceit.

In the process of reading the runes, I accidentally took out ten runes instead of nine, but I will include the tenth anyway, as a possibility, but I will not take the tenth one as seriously.

The first rune is the ‘Jera’. This means, since it is on its side, sudden setbacks, reversals, repetition, bad timing, conflict. This would certainly explain if her murderer was a serial killer. Suzanne happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Repetition as this was done before. Conflict; struggle?

The second rune is ‘Mannaz’, reversed. Depression, mortality, blindness, cunning, slyness, manipulation, to expect no help now. The cunning and manipulation do suggest Peter Tobin as her abductor, since he is not the sort (as far as I know) to grab a girl and throw her in his car. Maybe he faked being lost? As soon as she was in his car, she’d have no help.

The third rune is ‘Berkano’, this time upright. This one is confusing, as this is usually a positive rune, but the rune can mean ‘fertility’, ‘arousal of desire’ or ‘a love affair’. It would certainly describe a desire, from either Tobin or Black, the chance to finally have another victim. But with Tobin, ‘love affair’ may mean that he did not have a partner at the moment, being some years before he would meet Cathy Wilson. Maybe it was in his mind a twisted version of that?

The fourth rune is ‘Dagaz’. Interestingly, this rune means, translated ‘day or dawn’, perhaps a meaning to when exactly Suzanne died? The rune is on its side, which means ‘competition, ending, limit, coming full circle, blindness, hopelessness’. So my guess is that Suzanne was held overnight and killed around dawn.

As Tobin may have been heading toward Norfolk (being July, it was time for holidays) my guess is that he drove toward Norfolk after taking her, perhaps signing in to some quiet hotel or boarding house, holding Suzanne in the bedroom and killing her after a night of raping her?

But if Black took her, this would make less sense, as his being a psychopath and the fact he held Caroline Hogg - dead or alive is unknown - for four days, surely means he would have held the girl longer.

This is a very sad circumstance, but the thing remains is that she was a vulnerable fourteen-year-old and this is what happens when we don’t have AMBER Alerts and sex offender registers.

The fifth rune is ‘Gebo’. This means, as the rune is on its side, greed, loneliness, dependence, over-sacrifice, obligation, toll, privation, bribery. This could confuse me. Obviously, if Tobin is the killer, the greed makes sense, as well as privacy. But bribery is very confusing. Perhaps Tobin bribed a hotel clerk or someone not to tell anyone he was at the hotel? This would be especially likely if he phoned up and booked under his own name.

The six rune is ‘Wunjo’. It is reversed, so it means sorrow, strife, intoxication, possession by higher forces, impractical enthusiasm, raging frenzy. This can easily describe Tobin when he has killed or is killing, the intoxication could mean that he had some anxiety pills, as he did with Vicky and Dinah, or maybe simply got some alcohol and got Suzanne forcibly drunk. This could also mean he was happy that something was going his way, which would be wrong as it was illegal.

The seventh rune is ‘Raido’. The rune was on its side, meaning crisis, rigidity, injustice, irrationality, disruption, dislocation, delusion, possibly death. Well, this certainly describes what was happening, but crisis? Maybe not just for Suzanne. Tobin would want to dispose of her body quickly. But maybe there were a number of guests at wherever he was staying? Or he didn’t have an opportunity to dump her body where he wanted because of crowds? As for dislocating her body, it could be abandoning the body at a certain place – if true, she is probably not buried where he killed her – or maybe actually breaking her body to fit inside a garbage bag or suitcase or whatever he left her in. Remember, Dinah was bent double.

The eighth rune is ‘Hagalaz’, on its side. Natural disaster, catastrophe, loss of power, pain, suffering, loss, hardship, sickness and crisis. Again, all could describe Suzanne but maybe a small natural disaster, like a cliff fall, could have prevented Tobin from disposing of her quickly. We’d need to look through any records of cliff falls in July 1979 for this.

It would be a personal catastrophe for Tobin, perhaps driving around for a long time to look for somewhere to dump the body. Traffic jams? Also, when he did dump the body, he may have done as he did after Vicky and Angelika’s deaths, as well as the attempted murder of two girls in 1993. He could have faked illness and took shelter in a Norfolk hospital.

The ninth rune is ‘Fehu’ on its side. Loss of personal property, some sort of failure. Greed, burnout, cowardice, stupidity, dullness, slavery, bondage. Maybe he even forgot which suitcase or bag held Suzanne? Or stupidly left her body in the countryside during an awful traffic jam? Whatever happened, it seems disposing of her body would have been a problem. Perhaps someone even tried to help him with his bags in a traffic jam or something and he hurriedly pushed them back in his car? Perhaps he missed a spot check and he nearly was caught by someone?

All of this suggest some sort of traffic problem or collision and when the police arrived, he would have been shaking. He almost certainly would have given a false name. Again, like the cliff fall theory, this would actually be easy to look up. No-one would have noticed, even after Tobin’s arrest, because everyone was so certain Black took Suzanne.

The last rune is ‘Tiwaz’ on its side. Creative flow is blocked, injustice, imbalance,  strife, conflict, dwindling passion, difficulties in communication and separation.

Now, to find out where she is.

‘Spring’ seems to have a connection, either in place name or when she will be found. Hawk, earth, ship. Maybe close to Great Yarmouth? Birch, poplar, maybe crown. Hope.

Furniture store or something like that, maybe a cleaning company or handyman, as Tobin was, something with furnishing.

Shelter of some kind, human or animal.

Riding or horses, perhaps forging? Forging could mean Tobin forging a signature, but it could mean metal-working, so Great Yarmouth is also a likely guess.

Hail or maybe grain, farming? Wealth, either emotional or money, or forest. This could go with birch, poplar, earth, grain or maybe even horses.

A good guess is that she could be near farmland or woodland, perhaps near Great Yarmouth docks, very likely on the edge of an urban area.

Whatever the answer is, she is sadly gone and these are my best examples at what may have happened.

Operation Anagram: Pamela Exall

Operation Anagram: Pamela Exall

Pamela Exall Rune Reading

Pamela Exall vanished on 27th August 1974, from Digleas Campsite, Snettisham, in Norfolk. Last seen at 11pm, she had been camping with her brother and friend when she went for a walk.

Pamela's family were shown jewelry in Tobin's possession. While they said it was not Pamela's, they did recognise it, which just plain confuses me as to how they did.

Remember, merkstave means on its side.

The first rune is Berkano. Birth, general fertility, physical and mental growth. Liberation. Promise of new beginnings, new growth. Arousal of desire, a love affair, beginning of a new business? From what I have read, Pamela appeared to be starting a new job and was 21, so that could be the idea of liberation. This could describe Pamela, a young woman about to start a new life in her new job. Remember, young women were just starting to do this sort of thing, before being expected in either part-time jobs or housewives.

The second rune is Perthro, merkstave. Addiction, stagnation, loneliness, malaise. Malaise means illness. Tobin would have been in his second marriage, which would last until 1976. Maybe he asked Sylvia Jeffries to come to Norfolk with him and she refused? The addiction could be an addiction to power over women. Illness, of course, is what Tobin faked after murdering. I am now certain that Tobin took Pamela.

The third rune is Kenaz, merkstave. Disease, breakup, instability, lack of creativity. Nakedness, exposure, false hope. The ‘breakup’ could be Pamela leaving her friends, the nakedness pretty obvious if she is a Tobin victim, but just think about Tobin’s previous crimes. He basically lured Angelika Kluk to the church garage; he gave a lift to Dinah McNicol. This could be the false hope. He could have been driving down the Norfolk wash and saw a young girl by herself; stopping and asking for directions, perhaps using a torch or the car headlamps with a map, then forcing her in. This seems likely.

The fourth rune is Algiz, merkstave. Hidden danger, consumption by divine forces, loss of divine link. Warning, turn away, that which repels. The hidden danger being what I described above. I sometimes think to tales when people avoid disaster due to small accidents or loud voices in their heads. It’s basically their choice if they ignore them, but the angels tell us when there’s danger ahead, if it isn’t our time. Maybe Pamela ignored the warnings? If so, she ended up a murder victim. I wonder how many other murder victims ignored the warning? It could even be just gut instinct telling her that she shouldn’t talk to strangers.

The fifth rune is Gebo, merkstave. Greed, loneliness, dependence, over-sacrifice. Toll, privacy, bribery. The greed and loneliness, of course, describe Tobin. From what I’ve seen, some serial killers depend on a female to help them; a wife, mother, in few cases a sister or friend. A woman to take care of them. This is where Tobin’s wife comes in. he could have been annoyed he didn’t have her in Norfolk. Dependence also comes in. The toll may be a physical toll, a road block. Privacy could, of course, be Tobin trying to find somewhere to assault Pamela, who could have been in the back tied up under a blanket or something, maybe in the trunk of the car. Bribery is interesting.

A physical bribe, asking to please get through the roadblock? Or maybe they saw something and Tobin bribed them? If so, they may have been a desperate, possibly low-income person. That person might still be alive.

The sixth rune is Thurisaz. Reactive force, directed force to destruction and defence, conflict. Eroticism, tending toward change, purging, male sexuality. When Thurisaz is reversed, this often indicates rape, but I’d say with Tobin, this is rape. I’d say that Tobin found somewhere to park and assault Pamela by now.
The seventh rune is Ehwaz, merkstave. A change craved, feeling restless or confined. Reckless haste, mistrust, betrayal. During assaults, the victims can feel confined, maybe physically confined. The mistrust and betrayal could be when she went near Tobin, perhaps thinking about it now. I feel sorry for her now; she must have felt dreadful.

The eighth rune is Nauthiz, merkstave. Constraint of freedom, distress, toil, necessity, extremity, want, deprivation, need, poverty, emotional hunger. Poverty, as I said with low-income, could be something to look at. At this point, Pamela is in distress and the need could be her desperation to escape or Tobin’s lust.

The ninth rune is the blank rune. Not historical, but may indicate that this is in the hands of the universe.
In summary, Pamela is Tobin’s victim, might be buried somewhere in Norfolk, as there was a big search for her and she hasn’t been found. But likely to be some way away from where she vanished.

I will now try to see where she is.

Cliff, either in name or an actual cliff, somewhere where physical work may go on, perhaps a farm. Remember the road block. Pear. Rent, could be a bed and breakfast? Elk or yew. Maybe somewhere with water? Blood, maybe donation or hospital? Goes with Tobin’s habit of feigning sickness. Prince. Furnish. Birch, crown. Poplar. Horse. Perhaps a small hotel or somewhere to stay?

Operation Anagram: April Fabb

Operation Anagram: April Fabb

The first rune is Othala, merkstave. Lack of customary order, totalitarianism, slavery, poverty, homelessness, bad karma, prejudice, clannishness, provincialism, what a person can be bound to, in a contract.
This just confuses me. The idea of clannishness and provincialism, the two meaning the characteristics of a clan and one’s own group and provincialism meaning narrow-minded, or something from a province, a territorial unit, could make me think that April was someone who’d been ‘country’ and possibly never left Norfolk in her life. Also, these were the 1960s and even though it happened after the Moors Murderers, she was in a carefree place, where it didn’t seem bad things would happen.

The second rune is Uruz, reversed. Weakness, obsession, directed force, domination by others, sickness, ignorance, lust, brutality, rashness, violence.

These could easily describe both Tobin and Black, but the sickness makes me think again of how Tobin faked illness after a murder. Tobin, at the time I believe, also had some control over what would become his first wife, but at the very least, I believe he killed before. The idea of obsession is that Tobin didn’t plan to take Vicky and Dinah. He just saw two innocent young girls he could take advantage of. The ignorance could have been April deciding to stop to let her kidnapper through or  going back when noticing the vehicle was close to her.

The third rune is Ehwaz, reversed. A change might be craved, feeling restless or confined in a situation, reckless haste, disharmony, mistrust, betrayal. It’s interesting to note that ehwaz means ‘horse’ or ‘two horses’, transport.

This could be that Tobin had had older women before; Esther Mersy was 27, Patricia Docker, the first Bible John victim, was 26. This would have been a much younger victim, someone easy to control physically. He could have a yearning to have wanted a younger victim. The betrayal could be Tobin tricking April, perhaps asking for directions to a town or petrol station, before pulling her in, or maybe, if he’d started seeing his girlfriend yet, a sort of relationship betrayal.

The fourth rune is Isa. A challenge or frustration, psychological blocks to thought and activity, a time to turn inward and wait for what is to come. This rune enforces runes around it.
Some time before I did a reading for April, I pulled a single rune out asking where she was. I got Isa. That meant she is dead, sadly.

Maybe, as I said, being a country girl, she simply sat still and waited. Maybe he had a weapon. Maybe she was scared and waited. This IS how some rape victims react, not all fight back. The girl waited for her fate.
I cannot imagine how terrified April must have been. They didn’t teach sex education in the sixties and like I said, she’d probably never left Norfolk in her life and this was the sort of place I guess people left their doors unlocked. It would have been the same for the victims of the Moors.

The fifth rune is Thurisaz, merkstave. Danger, defencelessness, hatred, torment, spite, lies. A bad man or woman. Wherever April went after being picked up, she would have been assaulted almost immediately. Most children that are abducted are likely to be abused within three hours. The torment may be actual torment, or mental. Something horrible that makes me think it is Tobin is he physically tormented his first wife, so much that she was unable to have children.

The sixth rune is Raidho, merkstave. Crisis, rigidity, stasis, injustice, irrationality, disruption, dislocation, possibly death. The rigidity could be her actual body going rigid, the injustice is obvious, but dislocation could either mean her body being moved from where she died or what he did with his first wife. Another reason to make me say her murderer is Tobin.

The seventh rune is Kenaz, merkstave. Disease, breakup, nakedness, exposure, loss of illusion and false hope. It might be an indication that April will be found without her clothes, but also that maybe she realised she was dead. She might have told herself it was fine, she wasn’t dead, but realised what really happened. This can happen, especially if they die quickly or murdered.

The eighth rune is Nauthiz. Delays, restrictions, resistance leading to strength, distress, confusion, conflict and the power of will to overcome them. Survival, determination, accepting one’s fate, patience, self-initiated change. This could go back to her thinking that if she did what her kidnapper said, he wouldn’t hurt her. But it could be road restrictions. After all, a lot of people were in East Anglia over the bank holiday. Her murderer may have been distressed and desperate to get away, giving themselves patience in waiting in lines. The self-initiated change again makes me think of Tobin, as this would be a change of killing outside his ‘comfort area’ of Glasgow and to aim for younger victims.

Something interesting to note when looking at possible Tobin victims is they get younger over time. For instance, Patricia Docker was 26, Jemima McDonald, the second Bible John victim, was 32, Helen Puttock was 29. Barbara Mayo was 24. But near the end of the line, Louise Kay was 18, as was Dinah McNicol. The two victims in 1993 were 14. It is entirely possible that taking April made Tobin decide he could take teenage victims – Jackie Ansell-Lamb, just under a year later, was 18.

The last rune is Ingwaz. Male fertility, gestation, internal growth. Common virtues, common sense, simple strengths, family love, caring. The home. Rest stage. A time of relief, no anxiety, a time to move in a new direction. The home makes me think that the reason April has not been found is she is buried in or near Tobin’s home in early 1969. The rest stage also makes me think that his desire was fulfilled and he had satisfied his urges. Male fertility could connect to his sexuality; internal growth to confidence. After all, if I am right, this was Tobin’s third murder and now he would be confident. As I said, the new direction was younger victims.

As such, I will list possible places both in Norfolk and Glasgow.

Iron, rain, clouds, beast, moors. Giant, cliff, thorn. Funeral homes. Flame. Prince. Burn. Frost, heart, salvation. Glass. Wave. House. Sea. East.

Operation Anagram: Yvette Anne Watson

Operation Anagram: Yvette Anne Watson

http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/dad_won_t_give_up_on_missing_yvette_1_193575

Yvette is one of seven cases from Norfolk that Peter Tobin might have had a hand in. The others are April Fabb, 14, 1969; Susan Long, 18, 1970; the Cockley Cley body, found August 1974; Pamela Exall, 22, 1974; Natalie Pearman, 16, 1992 and Johanna Young, 1992. I will do readings for April and Pamela later, perhaps also the Cockley Cley body, plus Susan, Natalie and Johanna in time.

Yvette does not come up as often as the others since she is listed as a runaway. This is completely unfair since she was about to leave the clinic in two days.

The nearest bank holiday, as Tobin seems to have visited Norfolk during the bank holidays, is 'Mothering Sunday', on March 25th. Yvette vanished on March 30th. It's close, but not out of the question.

So, let's look.

The first rune is ‘Jera’, merkstave. Sudden setbacks, reversals, a major change, repetition, bad timing, poverty, conflict. These could sum up either a Tobin abduction or how she felt with her life mentally or physically; she was a sick girl.

The second rune is ‘Sowilo’, success, goals achieved, honour. Power is available for positive changes in your life, victory, health and success. Wholeness, power, elemental force, cleansing fire. It seemed like a good time for change for Yvette, who was getting better, so maybe this indicates that she couldn’t have run away, since she was getting better? Victory, health and success all point towards this as well.

So, this looks more and more like an abduction...

The third rune is ‘Nauthiz’, merkstave. Constraint of freedom, distress, toil, drudgery, being lax, nessecity, poverty, extremity, want, emotional hunger. This could all point toward Tobin. We don’t know where he was in early 1979, maybe he was low on money? Constraint of freedom could be that he was holding Yvette with him in a car or his home. Being lax could be that Yvette didn’t notice her surrounds much, that she was off-guard when he took her.

The fourth rune is ‘Perthro’. Uncertain meaning, hidden message, secret matter, hidden things. Knowing destiny, knowing path, knowing future matters. Feminine mysteries, involving fertility and the vagina. Good lot, fellowship, joy. Well, Tobin seemed frustrated by the menstrual cycle, so the fertility bit comes in on whether she was on her period when she vanished. The vagina definitely suggests a sexual motive for her vanishing.

The fifth rune is ‘Raido’. Travel, physically and lifestyle. A journey, vacation, relocation, setting a larger perspective, seeing the right move and deciding upon it. This could be Tobin repeatedly moving around, taking Yvette away in a vehicle, or taking her as a chance opportunity. Maybe all three. But it means she was abducted and Tobin should be taken into focus, since travelling and journeys seem to be a part of this. Perhaps he was leaving Norfolk through Norwich when he saw her? Maybe he was driving to wherever he lived now and that’s why she’s not been found, as the searchers were looking in Norfolk?

The sixth rune is ‘Berkano’. Mental and physical growth, liberation, the light of spring, renewal, promise of new beginnings, a new growth. Arousal of desire, a new venture. Maybe this could be, like with the one with Louise Kay, her death?

The seventh rune is ‘Isa’, which is definitely so. I’m sorry. This looked sad enough, but with Isa, a standstill, not moving forward, this meant death for the girl. A challenge or frustration, blocks to thought and activity, grievances, this rune reinforces the runes around itself, so it all points to Yvette having passed on. The challenge or frustration could be fighting Tobin or an attempt to escape his vehicle.

The eighth rune is ‘Ingwaz’, merkstave. Impotence, movement without change, production, toil, labour, work. Could this mean Yvette is buried? It could be she is underground, in Norfolk or otherwise, buried somewhere that Tobin has not shown us.

The last rune is ‘Mannaz’, merkstave. Depression, mortality, blindness, self-delusion, cunning, slyness, manipulation, craftiness, calculation. Yvette was suffering from depression, so this could be a factor. All the others describe Tobin.

So I can, without a shadow of a doubt, say Tobin abducted Yvette and took her (alive or dead) away from Norfolk.
